Helmut Lethen, Professor of Modern German Literature and Director of the International Research Centre for Cultural Studies at the Kunstuni Linz, presented his new book The Shadow of the Photographer. Images and their Reality. In his search for the reality behind the images, he cut a swathe through the jungle of media and cultural studies from 1980 - 2013 and discussed, among other things, how do images relate to the written archive, performance to pain, art to pornography?
