Lecture by World Press Photo 14 Winner Carla Kogelman

Carla Kogelman spoke to around 80 visitors about her award-winning work Ich bin Waldviertel.
In it, Carla Kogelman observes the everyday life of the two sisters Hannah (7) and Alena (9), who live in the small Austrian community of Merkenbrechts with their family. The siblings seem to completely forget the presence of the photographer, Kogelman's portraits thus allow a precious glimpse into the children's world. Carla Kogelman (*1961, Netherlands) worked in theatre for 25 years before she devoted herself to photography. She graduated from the Foto Akademie Amsterdam in 2011. She is more interested in backstage stories than in the big stage narratives; the people she portrays usually accompany her over a longer period of time. Carla Kogelmann is the WPP14 award winner in the category Spontaneous Portraits Photo Series.
