2015 WestLicht auctions start with four Leica cameras over 100,000 euros
At 288,000 euros (starting price 150,000 euros), the rare New York Leica Gun RIFLE prototype achieved the highest price of the 27th WestLicht camera auction. The sales quota was 84 percent, the turnover 3,010,000 euros. In second place was the Leica MP black paint, which was called for 140,000 euros and was worth 264,000 euros to a collector. A Leica M3 prototype from 1953 (starting price 80,000 euros) climbed to 192,000 euros including buyer's premium. At 180,000 euros, the fourth camera, a Leica M6 Electronic Prototype, which started at 90,000 euros, also clearly exceeded the magic limit of 100,000 euros. The most expensive lens was also the fastest telephoto lens ever made by Leica for the US Navy: the Elcan 1:0/90mm. Priced at 38,000 euros, it finally sold for 84,000 euros. Great joy for the association Kinderlachen: The Leica M and the Leica ME, whose cheerfully colourful design was created by children, each raised 28,800 euros - proceeds that will benefit charitable projects of the association. All prices are hammer prices including premium.
