OPENING THE DEFINING MOMENT
70 Years of Syndikat Photo Film
25.10.2017
Full house at the opening of the anniversary exhibition of the Syndikat Foto Film!
The foundation of the Syndicate of Press Photographers, Press Photo Agencies and Film Reporters in 1947 laid the foundation for the revival of independent photojournalism in Austria. For seventy years, the association has represented the interests of its members and has played a decisive role in shaping the development of press photography here. On the occasion of the anniversary, the exhibition presents a look at the history and present of the syndicate and the work of its photographers in almost 120 prints and a projection. The photographs span an arc from the signing of the State Treaty to the collapse of the Reichsbrücke to last year's presidential election campaign, from Elfriede Jelinek to Falco and from Kreisky to Haider, and are thus not only a reflection of the history of the association, but also a panorama of the events and people who shaped the image of the Second Republic.
