PERFORMANCE: TURNING THE CANVAS
PERFORMANCE: TURNING THE CANVAS

Especially in predominantly white societies like Austria, social structures are shaped around the norm of whiteness, creating and perpetuating unequal treatment and structural racism. Against this backdrop, the performance engages with the themes and questions raised by the exhibition THE WHITE CANVAS, exploring the experiences of Black people and People of Color. What do these white structures conceal? How can one develop a sense of identity and belonging within them?
Four performers blend in with the exhibition visitors, bringing visibility to what is often overlooked and revealing the identities hidden behind the white canvas. It’s an encounter on equal footing between observers and the observed.
Performers: mirabella paidamwoyo* dziruni, Ogechukwu Sandro Ikeobi, Orion, Mirjam Tsion
