How can we encounter photographs with language, how can what is seen be expressed in words through poetry? Together with Caitlyn Stone, a literary scholar and expert in the field of Witness Poetry, we embark on a creative engagement with the works of the WORLD PRESS PHOTO 2024 exhibition in the writing workshop.

Through writing response poetry, we attempt to find methodologies for compassionate engagement with photographic works of the current exhibition. As witnesses separated by experience, place, language and history, the main question we ask in the workshop, and attempt to answer through poetics is: how can we feel, articulate and explore meaningful responses to the stories we encounter?

A key aspect of Witness Poetry is processing emotional memories and individual experiences in relation to political and serious topics. Participants of the workshop are invited to also engage with personal motives and experiences through the medium of poetry.

No prior knowledge is required.
Writing materials will be provided.
The workshop will be held in German and English.

Participation fee: Exhibition ticket plus 14 Euro
